This TikTok-Viral Blush Is Ultra-Pigmented and Under $20

Viral makeup products might feel like a dime a dozen. However, when thousands of beauty aficionados invest their coins in the same product and give it high praise, that's something to pay attention to. Juvia's Place Blushed Liquid Blush is a prime example. I was first introduced to it via TikTok. There, I saw countless women of color using the blush and loving its high-impact pigment.

After watching dozens of these reviews from brown-skin creators, I knew I (and team Byrdie) had to try Juvia's Place Blushed Liquid Blush. Ahead, learn more about the buzzy blush and read our honest thoughts.

The Product

Offered in 12 shades (ranging from soft peach to deep burgundy), this vitamin E-infused formula is designed to be highly blendable and impart pigmented, dewy color on your cheeks. As I tested it, I could see why this formula has become one of the latest BeautyTok sensations (more on that ahead). But I was also curious: What made Juvia's Place develop this product to begin with?

The brand's vice president of product development, Bridgette Howard, says, "We noticed a growing trend around the different ways customers used blush in their routines. Blush is no longer a product you apply just on your cheeks but is also used to brighten the under eyes, as a liquid eyeshadow, and even applied on the nose to enhance overall radiance. This trend inspired us to expand our blush offerings beyond our ultra-popular powder Blushed Duos."

As for the formula's color payoff? Juvia's Place has always created its products with deeper skin tones in mind—a point that is still often missed by beauty brands. So, of course, this blush was no different. "We recognized the need for a format that provided the same level of pigment and blendability while offering even more versatility in application," Howard explains.

How to Apply

Over-application with this blush is very easy. However, Howard offers a few tips for applying this blush without going overboard. "We mean it when we say a little goes a long way with our liquid blushes," she says. "Since our products are highly pigmented, we always recommend that you start with a little product and work your way up. We recommend starting by adding 1-3 small dots to the cheeks." If you want to maintain a bolder look, she recommends using a blush brush. For those who want a more air-brushed finish, Howard suggests opting for a sponge.

As for finding your ideal shade, Howard encourages experimentation. "With blush products, we view them differently than a foundation or a concealer," she says. She encourages users to take a page out of the Juvia's Place beauty book and play with different shades based on their makeup look and personal style. "The level of pigmentation allows each shade to be buildable so that every shade of complexion can customize the entire range to their preference," she adds.

"The doe-foot applicator was the first thing I noticed—it really helps control how much product you're applying. Given the beautiful, pigmented formula, an application learning curve should be expected when using this the first couple of times. For example, as I blended the Barbie Rose shade with my Beautyblender, there was a harsh line between the blush and my foundation. I eventually blended it out with my Artis Fini Brush.

On another occasion, I reapplied the blush with a different technique that I found more effective: underpainting. After my primer, I applied the blush to my face. Next, I went in with my complexion products. I used the Haus Labs TriClone Skin Tech Foundation, applying it over the blush with a clean Beautyblender. Then, I applied the Ami Colé Skin-Enhancing Concealer under my eyes, layering it over the blush on my cheeks. And just like that, the harsh lines were gone. With this approach, I achieved more of an inner-glow finish. My final step was to mattify my cheeks because cream blush formulas tend to make my combination skin oily as the day goes on. Overall, I love this blush, but the biggest takeaway is that using the proper technique and tools is essential."

"When it comes to the current generation of liquid blushes, I find that sometimes there can, indeed, be too much of a good thing—the combination of the wider doe-foot applicators and pigmented formulas often requires a very delicate touch. One thing I like about this formula is that I don't find it too pigmented; it's easy to layer and build coverage. I'm wearing the shade Coral Rose here, applied with a brush (I found it was a little splotchy when blended with a sponge), which I think is the perfect shade for neutral looks."

"I don't feel my makeup is complete without a hint of blush. Usually, I gravitate toward powder or cream formulas, but the buzz surrounding the Juvia's Place Liquid Blush made me eager to try it. I applied a conservative amount of Rosey Posey to the apples of my cheeks (two tiny dots, to be exact). Using a blush brush, the Liquid Blush blended out like a dream and left me with a radiant, soft color finish on my cheeks. I even added one more dot of product to my cheeks to add a bit more pigment. While Juvia's Place Liquid Blush has a reputation for being super bold, rest assured that you can achieve a subtle look if that's what you desire. I know I'll be incorporating this product into many looks from now on."

"This is, without a doubt, a very pigmented liquid blush. I usually try to stay away from liquid blush because it tends to pull away my full-coverage foundation, but this formula is so creamy that it blends perfectly even when applied with a brush. Before applying, I scraped off any excess product from the applicator, and then I put a very small dot on the back of my hand so that I could stamp it with a brush and then apply. With very little product, the color payoff is amazing, and it truly lasts all day. I'll probably have this same tube of blush with me forever because a very little bit of product goes a long way."

"I typically reach for a stick blush as I find it easier to control. But I was excited to try this liquid blush from Juvia's Place after seeing it on my FYP. I found this formula super pigmented and applied too much the first time. However, I can't complain because you can tell that this product was formulated with people with deep skin tones in mind. This blush blended beautifully and gave my skin extra radiance."
